Leaving a gift in your Will:

Remembering Savannah Education Trust in your will can have a significant impact on communities in West Africa – particularly children and their families currently living in extreme poverty.

We have found previously that receiving a legacy has allowed us to expand the work to help more children. For example, a legacy has transformed the lives of those living in the village of Korh:

Korh School

Before Korh Baptist School was built in 2014, Korh was a remote village entrenched in the systemic cycle of hand to mouth living. For most people the main aspiration was to find sufficient food and water for the day.

In 2012 Savannah Education Trust received a gift in a Will that provided the funds needed to reach this isolated village. The school was completed in 2014 and the village has been transformed, the signs of malnutrition are disappearing and there are fewer serious illnesses among young children. The children’s skills, hopes and aspirations are being lifted through education and a foundation has been laid to educate the children of Korh for many generations to come.

Why include us in your Will:

  • Providing a Christian education gives the best possible start in life for some of the poorest children in Africa.
  • Even a relatively small amount of money has an enormous impact in the communities of northwest Ghana.
  • We have a long term relationship with the churches and communities of northwest Ghana. This is a work which, under God’s blessing, is having a deep and enduring impact on the area.

How to include us in your Will:

We advise that you use the full legal name of the charity – Savannah Education Trust – and also include the registered charity number: 1104896.

There are different ways to leave Savannah a gift in your Will.

  • A fixed sum: this is a set sum of money such as £20,000. This type of gift is also known as a pecuniary gift.
  • A share or percentage: this is what is left over after all bills, debts, taxes and other gifts are paid. This type of gift is also known as a residuary gift. You can give the whole of the residue to a person or a charity, or a portion of it.
  • A specific item – such as a piece of jewellery or house.
